In broad outline the Telecentres 2000 Project and other associated projects run by the IT Centre of Powys County Council are focussed on the provision of public access to ICTs in Powys. In general, community ICT initiatives are bottom up initiatives and are driven by the grass-roots. They are inspired by people in communities who actively want ICTs to have a profile in their community. Community groups and strategically placed organisations working together leads to robustness, a degree of unity of purpose, hopefully resulting in better achievement of objectives.
The Telecentres 2000 project is the product of a successful ERDF bid which runs from December 1998 to December 2000.
